The last couple events, we have set up airbnb and split the cost. But one of the best parts about the pens wood event is that you can stay right on campus at the university of pittsburgh. They have a campus up in bradford and it works out perfect because they feed you meals there and you stay right in the dorms. It is one of the best run events that I have been to in my limited experience. We are also interested in this. No specific preference but would like to do one where we can get a badge, don’t have any yet. But if not that is ok, we’re fine with whatever the majority decide.
Does everyone usually camp or get a hotel?
We are good with Penn's Woods. We were also looking at 11th Uwharrie 2025 in NC. It is close to where our daughter lives but will have the opportunity to go there in future years.
I think the Catskill one in NY is the only one on the east coast that requires two people in the Jeep (they also require lockers, which is no biggie for me, but good to note for some). Some of the Jeep Jamborees state that they require two adults in each vehicle. I do NOT see this as a requirement for this Jamboree, based on past experience, is that true? If we have to pay for two adults we may as well bring two Jeeps!
For those who have not been to a Jamboree, here are a couple notes to help with registration. Last year Penns Woods sold out in minutes.
Good luck!
- Go to Jeep Jamboree and set up and account ahead of time. I think you can enter all your info ahead of time, but at least have a login and PW ready.
- Make sure to double check the registration time. For those looking to do Penns Woods, it says registration opens at noon on 12/5, but important to note that it is noon PST so will open at 3:00 our time.
- Log into JJUSA and be logged in and ready right when registration opens. This one will fill up quickly.
- Once you get confirmation, let us know here and will see what kind of group we have.
Here is what it says on the itinerary:I'm really interested in going but wondering what to do with tickets in case we can't go. A lot can happen 6 months out. Looking at the refund policy it's not very good. Do you know if we are allowed to sell our tickets in case we can't go, or are the tickets tied to the Jeep?
Thanks, I saw the refund policy but missed the transfer policy. It is a lot better, but it also says "dependent on availability". If these things sell out as fast as everyone says thats not very comforting, especially being limited to wanting to stay on the east coast. Here is what it says on the itinerary:
A transfer allows the original purchaser to transfer their registration from one trip to another, dependent on availability, at no charge.• Transfers must take place in the same calendar year and at least 14 days prior to the event.• Transfer or sale of your registration to another person is prohibited and will result in a cancellation without a refund.• If you are unable to attend, you should cancel your registration. Your spot will be released to those on the waiting list. You may not transfer your registration to a third party.OUR REFUND POLICY We understand things come up. As we approach our events, we incur expenses we cannot recover. As such, the following refund policy applies to all Jeep Jamborees:• 30 days or more before your Jeep Jamboree ($125 cancellation fee)• 29 days to 15 days – 50% of your total will be refunded• 14 days to trip date – No refund
So looks like you can transfer to another trip if something comes up, but not to another person. You can cancel, but the closer it gets the more it costs.
