Got the 315's mounted on the JLUR and took the end caps off the Rubicon bumper.

Looks like FCA quality is still mud monkey, the ends of the steel bumper underneath the endcaps were all scratched up (looks like the end caps had to be hammered on). And the 5th tire wanted 46oz of weight...waiting on a replacement from Discount Tire.

But I still love her.

Spent the evening redoing all the aftermarket wiring I've done since highschool. Interior is done now, and behind glove box looks slightly less like a rats nest. Real solder or crimp terminal with heatshrink connections are making me a lot more comfortable with my work. It's kinda scary what some of the cheapo crimp connectors were looking like after a few years.

Eventual plan is to add another ignition switched and another always hot fuse box. Will be starting research on those soon

I got my ARB compressor installed and wired up.  Everything seems to be working properly.  Now I need to go on a trail ride to justify airing down so I can use the compressor to air back up.   :lol

I was looking for a mount for my CB mic and Baofeng. There are a lot of companies that make mounts for the JK, JL and JT but not for the TJ.

So I found this China boat special cup holder mount on Amazon.

I removed the cup holder then mounted my CB mic holder to the mount.

Based on how the mount sits, I can use the clip on my Baofeng and clip is to the mount (backwards) and it sits in the grab handle. Since I put the Baofeng on a freq and leave it, it's not a big deal I can't see the readout and I can use the hand mic for comms. I will likely get a retractable mount for that hand mic.

For now it will work but I will come up with something else if I don't like it after my next wheeling trip.

I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Got all the holiday trash out of the Jeepster and let the wife drive it around the neighborhood.  She hadn’t driven it yet and wasn’t used to manual steering and brakes.  Otherwise she said it was pretty fun to drive.

Put on my bed step, and then took the Freedom Panels off for the first time to enjoy the weather. Nothing like 70 degrees in January!

My Ram has the bed step.  I did not even know until the day after I bought it and was swapping the plate frame and saw it.  I have used it a couple of times, but still forget and hop into the bed.  As I get older, I have a feeing I will be remembering that step is there.

I find with short legs and a midsize truck on 33s or 35’s, I remember it real quick lol. I had one on the Tacoma and loved it, so I just had to wait for it to come back in stock to grab it for the JT.

Finalizing my tube fender install. Only thing left to do is wire up the turn signal and add a couple bolts to each side:

Ready for another trip to the north.

Nice ingenuity, and don't mean to knock, but is that going to get in the way of airbag deployment?

As for interference with the air bag, it could be possible but I believe it sits out far enough that the air bag would easily deploy and likely just bend the metal given the angle it sits.

Generally anything in front of the airbag is a no-no.

Interesting marketing of that product on Amazon... Of the four application pics, one is it empty, one is it with a phone, one is it holding a Hoegarden, one holding a bottle of Jack...!

I hear you. Not the best position but the pic is a little deceiving. It is not really in front of the airbag that much. I could likely bend the bracket slightly and be all good.

I thought that marketing pic was so weird too. If you are advertising a car cup holder, you think the last thing you would put in the holder would be alcohol. SMH

This made me laugh Sean.  I do the same thing periodically, but for a different reason.  That reason, now my signature, is "Built to wheel, but hides in the garage"

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself.  I changed my oil in my TJ on Monday.  What a pain in the a$$!  I have an oil pan skid with the small oval hole for draining the oil thru.  I bought a nice new large rectangular plastic container from Walmart for draining the oil into.  Sounds simple right?  So I laid on the ground next to the container like I have always done, and removed the plug.  The HOT oil came out in a nice arc about as big around as your thumb.  When it hit the container it splattered everywhere in about a 3 foot radius.  The pan has little raised ridges to guide the oil towards the drain.  It splattered all over my face, glasses, shoulder, neck, and the ground.  What a friggin' mess!  As it was almost finished, the oil then was not coming out into the skid opening, it was landing on the skid itself and puddling.  I had to run in the garage and cut a piece of plastic to redirect it outward.  I then had to remove the filter from the top of the engine bay.  Now that the skid is there, I had to cock it slightly to pull it up and out to clear the distributor.  Of course what spilled out landed right on the top side of the skid and enlarged the nice puddle that was already there.  Put the plug back in, new filter, and refilled.  Everything is now slimed.  I almost went thru a whole roll of paper towels before I got the 2 cans of degreaser and garden hose out.

I think I will be getting one of those Fumoto valves to install during the next oil change.

My goodness they're worth it, I've got it on the YJ now and literally picked on up for dad's tj last week for the next oil change.

90% of the skids on the market will have that issue. I have two different UCF skids and they both have a hold for the oil changes that sucks. Skid row was the worst I've used for oil changes.

Agreed. They all have that issue. I have a Fumoto, but if I was doing it again I'd use a Stahlbus Oil Drain Valve. It's a lower profile.

Drove the CJ about 60 miles today working on the tune with the new ECU (Megasquirt MS3/V3.57). After a week of failed struggling I have finally gotten a strong enough understanding of the MegaSquirt MS3 and the TunerStudio software to make progress. It is driveable but not fully dialed in yet. I will continue to plug away until next Wednesday when it goes on a Dyno and a professional tuner takes the keyboard.

Awesome, if you have throttle tip in, I can give a pointer.  And if you want to set the RPM range to make the needle sweep actually matter, you can.  I set the max number to 20 instead of 80.  Liked it much better.  Good luck with it.  I liked mine a lot.

Gonna be honest Dain, this is all new to me. I'll have to meet up with you one weekend and you can show me what's what.

All that matters right now is that it starts easily and when Kate finally got behind the wheel and pressed the pedal she grinned ear to ear and said; oh, it does have a V8.

I bet that v8 is nice.  Definitely bring it by.  The Holley sniper FB group has a lot of helpful people too.  Despite a ton of haters.  I got mine running perfect for me.  No crazy tuning.  Got my display set up nicely too.  I miss it.  Loved having my temp on the display digitally rather than a sweeping needle on the dash.

I was a bit underwhelmed with the V8 (especially considering it's the 401) until today with the sniper. I mean its still not a hot rod but its waaaaay better.

Spent about 30 minutes after your first reply messing with the display, so many options! And yes to the temp display. The factory gauge doesn't even work on this thing.

Of course it doesn’t  it is a CJ.

Do you have a stock tach?  I loved having the one on the display of the sniper.  Once I set the numbers right.  I can’t remember if the top being 50 or 60 was the right one. But whatever it was made each big hash equal to 10.  That was the only way it was accurate

No stock tach so nothing to compare it to but it's a number I didn't have before.

I have thought about getting an 8274 for mine.  Maybe find an old one that needs help and restore it for fun.

I've been wanting to do the same thing. Good luck finding one for a decent price though. They're expensive as hell

Sorry to hear that Frank.
What skid do you have so I don't have the same issue if I buy one in the future?

I have a Warn skid plate I got for free.  It's not as thick as I would like and I bent/warped it a few times pretty bad.  I've added a piece of 1/4"x2" angle iron welded down each side for more structure and it pretty much has prevented anymore bending.

Gave the LJ some love today by installing a new JVC double din stereo with CarPlay and a backup camera input. I then took a BrandMotion JK camera and adapted it to the LJ for a nice clean factory look on the spare tire mount. Very pleased with how it turned out.

Do you think you would be able to run a camera to the front and have something similar to the gladiators?

Actually you can, the radio I got has a front camera input. Hadn’t thought about adding that, but I do have on on my Gladiator, so maybe I should so the LJ doesn’t feel left out.

It’s a KW-M650BT. I got it cheaper because it has a 6.2” screen instead of 6.8 and only has CarPlay. If you want/need a slightly bigger screen or Android Auto you can step up tot he 750 for slightly more.

Put the Spicer Dana 44 diff cover on the back of the JL. Fun fact, they don't make lube lockers for the JL Dana 44 (yet, the bolt pattern is different than on the JK) but the JL actually comes with them from factory. Still ended up using RTV instead, but good to know if y'all want to swap covers at some point (...Donnie).

Not today, but over the weekend, my in-law Brandon installed my Christmas present (unknown to me until the last second) on my JKU in Delaware!  Four BDS shocks, 2 Fox in the rear, 2 Nitro in the front.  I am sure he got a deal on them split like that, but I am not complaining since my Teraflex shocks were leaking and bad!

Not many people like that style of hat.  I like the sun protection for my face and neck.  Am I copying Aaron?  Maybe a little.  But I have been jealous of his for a while.  Finally got one (two) for myself.  Now to hit the trails and wear one.
