Hmm... interested in this. Is the pre-run going to multiple days?

Has any planning started? If so, are there plans for several types of trail groups to accommodate varying talent and vehicle types? The last few years I led major events, I found that if you run more than 4 or 5 other vehicles with you, it takes the majority of the day to wheel the top tier trail for that given group. So, typically I will schedule 2 lower tier trails, run the 'main' trail, and then a cool-down trail.

Camp Heep will definitely be several groups for different levels. We have done Camp Heep at Rausch for a couple decades and this will be first year at AOAA, so just trying get a bit more familiar with the park.
We talked about doing a couple days for pre-run, but wanted to wait and see what interest there was and play that ear since it is still several months out. So will be one or more days at this point :)
It is very flexible for now, but imagine we will shore more when we get a feel for group and who all is interested in going.

I'm really interested in this. It would be nice to maybe get out early spring, but I'm open to anything.

I think in the previous discussion there were a lot of people that wanted to pre run the badge of honor trails as well.

@Nacho Sounds good. I visit Rausch and AOAA Several times a year, each. In 2024, I was at AOAA 3 times in as many months. Hopefully I can be helpful and contribute on route planning. Especially if there is a desire to use OnX to track and publish any routes.

I well say, the more advanced trails change a lot during the course of the year. A pre-run is a good idea, for sure.

We are down with a pre-run if you have slots avail. Will be our first time there. Also interested in the ToH badge runs.

Pre-run for sure. Heck, I’d even do a two day trip. Never been so I’d like to get my bearings before Camo Heep, especially if I’d be running or assisting with a group.

Making a day and a half out of it sounds like a good time!

Added my name to the linky.

Aww man, we definitely wanted to go, but can't make that date. We are still good for Camp Heep though, so we'll see everyone there.

Super interested!!! No idea what camp heep is but I’m looking forward to pre run and the event and learning AOAA!

Camp Heep is our biggest offroad event of the year. it is a members-only ride that we have done up at Rausch Creek Offroad park for the past (about) 20 years. This year we will be at AOAA for the first time, which is sure to be a great time at the inaugural AOAA Camp Heep.

The club runs several groups (depending on difficulty) and we spend a full day wheeling, then cook out dinner and feed everyone in attendance. We also will have some great prizes and just have an awesome time. There is no cost for dinner or prizes, and the wheeling is just the price of admission to the park. Everything else is covered by your membership dues, so this is definitely one you will want to mark on the calendar.

Many folks will go up and wheel on Friday and/or Sunday as well.

I've always wondered if it was called Camp Heep because of auto correct replacing Jeep with Heep. Is that the case?

Not sure, as that was way before my time, but I don't think that is the case.
It is a “take” on the Camp Jeep events. But with obviously less presentable Jeeps (Heeps). It pre-dates me as well, but that was what I was told. The first one I attended was 10. Was scheduled to attend number 9 but the Jeep broke down so could not go.
