Looking back, would you stick with the J8 or go ahead to a TF44 or Dynatrac 44 axle assembly.

If Iā€™m going to regear, replace ball joints, add gussets... maybe a could just get a TF44, sell my J8 and not be out too much money.

J-8 spec axle  is holding up very well to the abuse I have thrown at it.  I have custom axle tube seals , RCV axles, Dynatrac ball joints  and a Dynatrac big brake kit.  It is tough and  light weight. If I would replace it  I woudl go with a Spidertrax set up  with cut down gears and bigger axle shafts.

Dropping out the  J8 axle for a TF44  is just swapping parts IMHO.  You can achieve the same with simple upgrade work.  Dynatrac ball joints  are not cheap but  they will last a long time  if taken care of... I have absolutely no issues  with ball joints now.  RCV shafts were a simple  quick drop in... the M300s are too much  for the stock carrier.. rather break an axle  than explode a carrier.

Mine are gusseted, not really required but done anyway... R3 has landed from almost 4 feet in the air... axle is still good and alignment is still good.

Cheers

Hung fronts test fitting...and for photos
Major props for the great paint results! Looks super sharp.

I tried this as well during early quarantine and masking off 1 fender was way too laborious for me to consider doing another 3.
Except silver body/flats, with black tube accent/outer.
(Ended up doing all black for ease)

Thank you.
I am not a paint and body kinda guy  and since I had time on my hands I thought I would give it a try. Learned a lot on this particular project.
