That's the one I found when researching the area. I plan on meeting up with y'all there after we finish our Colorado passes and y'all finish Fordyce. I'm gonna check on whether its first come first served or reservation.
looks like first come first served from the website.

Yep. Finally got confirmation by calling the ranger district office. There are 3 others as you head south on 24 coming from I-70. After passing Red Cliff there is Homestake, Hornsilver and Blodgett. They're also first come. So if Gold Park is full we can backtrack a couple miles.

Blodgett is right next to the Eagle River, beautiful camp ground. While closest to the start of the trail, I found Gold Park a bit too crowded, stuffing a ton of people and vehicles into each spot, and a bit rowdier.

Lots going on right now. Lots of modifications and building happening in preparation for this trip. So are just fine tuning, while others are in a full on build. Looking forward to see everyone on the 14th.

Watched that one last night. would have liked to see Little Sluice in better detail. Was amazed at how the Raptor B did.

Looks like the Loon Lake trail head is closed for the season.

Hear is a suggested rally point for Wentworth springs.

You may want to talk to the El Dorado Sheriff. From a quick search, it appears the parks dept may be incorrectly stating that Rubicon access is not possible from Loon Lake this summer. Historically the trail is open 365 days a year. The confusion may be due to there being a Loon Lake hiking trailhead that is closed this summer, not to be confused with the Loon Lake offroading trailhead. Again, I would start with a phone call to the Sheriff since I believe that end of the trail is under their jurisdiction due to it being a non maintained county road. Once you hear what they have to say, I'd reach out to the El Dorado National Forest service.

I don't see your name on the Rubicon Springs website, were you not able to get a reservation? It looks like there is some event call UTV Conquest taking over the main camp Aug 8/9/10. So you guys might see a bunch of SxS's on the trail. Luckily you are after both the Jeepers Jamboree and the Jeep Jamboree, so you won't have to contend with those crowds.

I'll also remind you all to check the outhouses for snakes before entering. My wife was surprised by one after she was already seated, and lucky for her it was still early in the morning and the rattler was moving slowly.

@CookieMonster,
The idea is to run Rubi in three days. Going to enjoy the run and the scenary. This said would ike to stop in the Springs, but we are open to enjoying the trail.

Three days is the perfect amount of time to run it. (I wish we hadn't done it in only two)

I would stop the first night somewhere near Buck Island Lake, and the second night at Rubicon Springs. That will break the trip into 3 semi equal segments and allow more time to play on the different Sluice's. This will also provide some refreshing water both nights to cool off in. I would also suggest some sort of water shoe/strappy sandal you can wear into the water to avoid cutting your feet on the rocks.

Option for lodging on Aug 6/7. Looks like the KOA is getting full and the price is comparable to the hotel. They also have camping at this location.

Looks like I will try to secure either a room or a camp spot at Ice House resort/campground. will know more after noon today.

Vehicle storage , thinking those with trailers?

I'm not sure who may have already seen this vid, local club on Fordyce for y'all doing that. Long vid but good info of obstacles.
Thanks Joe, will take a look tonight. 9 month old doesn't sound too far out of date. Quick look shows some challenging stuff.

Just a heads up for an interesting side quest during everyone's ride out west. Depending on what day you hit Salt Lake City area, may want to visit Expedition Superstore. 2195 S Presidents Dr, Suite C, West Valley UT. basically in SLC metro area. Short hours on Saturdays, closed Sundays.
All you rich folks can indulge in your wants.;)

Tomorrow is July 1, down to the last 30 days before we hit the road west. I know a few of us still have plenty to do. If anyone needs a hand please reach out happy to assist.

On the road I will be up on the Freqs in my sig block. I will also have StarLink for web and web-based phone.
