Galactica - 2018 JL

It looks so good, i say just leave it raw steel and clear coat it.
We considered that after seeing it all put together - the bit of research we did seemed to indicate that if you ever get a scratch and compromise the clear coat is super hard to find, until it starts rusting.

We opted for powder coating, which hopefully will hopefully offer good durability, and it is what @WNDR-XJ wanted - so you know, happy wife happy life :)

That is gong to be a big Powder coat job.... you doing it or sending it out?

Hot pink will let you see the scratches! What oven is that going into for the powder coating? Wow

I have to say this thing is a beast. After seeing it in action at GER you guys have built one amazing rig. Just keep teh rubber side down and the shinny side up as your adventures get bigger and bigger.

Realize that I never updated the post with the conclusion to the cage project.

After assembly we had to remove the cage for powder coating. We used the winch from the XJ to pull the cage up vertically. The cage weighs 226lbs so just about 100 lbs over the factory cage.

We used NV Coatings in chantilly and they did a bang up job. We would absolutely use them again. Once we got the cage back, we reversed the process and winched it back into place.

We then of course had to take it for a test drive in the driveway.

We then re-installed all of the interior replacing the factory seats with PRP seats. We had to make some special provisions to keep all of the safety equipment in operable condition. We even managed to keep the factory heated sets by placing a new OEM heating pad into the PRP seats.
