The average residential electricity rate in Anne Arundel County, MD is 17 ¢/kWh, which is 2% lower than the average electricity rate in Maryland of 17.77 ¢/kWh. The average residential electricity rate in Anne Arundel County, MD is 11% lower than the national average rate of 20 ¢/kWh.
Here in Oakton Va with Dominion Electric, the rate is about 14.5 cents per KWH. On my system, I produce more than I use, so all I pay is a connect fee of about $8 per month ( that is the minimum charge from the electric company for your house being connected to the grid, whether you use any electricity or not)
My system system is payed for by a loan, not a PPA, PPA's and leases complicate house sales, so when I sold Solar Systems (Powur), I did not suggest PPA's, despite my company offering them.
The concern with the PPA company removing the system is that the panel mounting rails are screwed in the roof rafters thru the shingles and removing the system could damage the roof and have potential leaks (even if they seal the holes)
In Va, the people that evaluate and check houses for sale now have to include the value of a solar system in the house value. In my case I would use that to pay off the loan and the new owner would out right own the system.
Even if they payed the system off and you out right owned it, would there be any warranty?--I doubt it. With my system with Powur, we have a 30 warranty on the panels and controller and the warranty conveys to the new owner. Note: my 10kw battery backup warranty is only 10 years.
