Ammo group buys?

Ammo isn't exactly cheap.

We all like to shoot.

Has anyone ever tried to organize a group buy for some of the more popular calibers?

I shoot 5.56, .22, 9mm, and .45acp. Totally willing to halvzies with someone on some of the bigger boxes. Thoughts?

I've more thought of just starting to buy in bulk once or twice a year rather than every range trip. I frequent https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/ which has some borderline stupid deals popping up now and again

I'll be sure to check that out. I was thinking of getting together with someone....like you.....and splitting the cost of the 1000 round boxes. I ran through a ton of stuff last weekend getting my AR zeroed, and plinking with M9. Lucky Gunner seems to have some solid deals on range ammo.

my discretionary spending is limited because of truck maintenance needs this month fair warning, I'm not gonna be back up to fun levels of spending till october.

I'm in the same boat. But, planning ahead makes spending on toys less painful. lol

I usually buy in 1000 rounds lots. it really isn't cheaper. Only time you can get a "real" discount is in a pallet of ammo.
If you go to ammoseek.com and search for what you want you'll find plenty of deals on smaller lots.
The difference in price between a lot of 250 vs 1000 is usually only a fraction of a cent per round.
The biggest issue is shipping cost. You can regularly find a lot of the on-line ammo have deals for free or low cost shipping over like $100.
I use to buy mainly from Freedom Munitions but they aren't the cheapest on the block anymore.
Check out LAX, Target Sports and Mid-America. Even Midway USA has deals for shipping all the time.
Best deal I got for 380 and 38 Super was from Cheaper Than Dirt on 100 rounds of each. Didn't need to buy bulk.
Cabela's always has great sales on Winchester white box 22LR.
Last time for both 9mm and 45 was from LAX.

And if you are Fed or contractor give serious consideration to chances that govt will be shut down come Oct 1.  I say the chances are 60% shutdown right now or better.
Might last awhile too say after the First of the year or maybe until Easter 2019.

I am good right now ammo wise since I am putting out off thoughts of a Colt SAA or maybe a Winchester 1873 in 45LC.
