Took advantage of warmer temps to pain my TJ Rubicon flares back to black. Hopefully I can get them on the weekend.

Nice work. I think all TJ/LJ guys can relate...lol

Nice work Jeff, So is that only FMRS?

Congrats Donnie! My oldest started in a Jeep wagon I built for her and now she has her own TJ. Time flies, enjoy it.
Yes, it’s GMRS only, and works with FRS too. Starting to migrate over, much easier to setup and more reliable than CB. My buddy took a handheld about a half a mile away and we could chat clearly with no issues.

What antenna are you using?  I'm looking at adding GMRS to my rig and was highly considering those Midland AIO mobiles

Looks like he's using the Midland 3 dB gain Ghost.

That is correct, it’s the Midland Ghost. I was hoping it would be sufficient because it’s so small and out of the way. Initial test with a poopy old handheld FRS radio let us talk over a half mile apart on the low power channel. I’m considering that a win and moving forward, if I find it insufficient later I might switch to the bigger 6dB antenna.

Spent the past couple days painting and installing the new to me Rubicon fender flares on my LJ. Ended up picking up a couple Sahara fender extensions to match since I don’t have any rocker guards on mine. Really happy with how they turned out.

Part of my overall D44 build I'm working on includes going to 33s. I knew I would need to upgrade my tire carrier but just personal preference I did not want a swing arm bumper. So I found the rugged ridge brace and HD tire mount.

So far I'm happy with it and it seems super solid. The mount does put the tire at a slight angle. Should give plenty of room for the 33s when I get there.  Very easy to install.

Took the 3a to get gas.  Then posed for pics before going back into the garage.

If I known you needed them I would have given you a set of the extensions. What paint did you use on them? I like it. I have a set of gloss black Sahara's for my CJ and I am not sure I want to retain the gloss finish.

Finished up some wiring projects this weekend.  Replaced my 6 years worth of aftermarket wiring rat's nest with a secondary Marine fuse box, added milspec style battery terminals, got my winch wired finally, and routed switch wiring nicely (and somewhat organized) through the firewall to a new switch panel (which turned out to be far from plug and play, as everything with my build seems to be going).

I've had Hella lights on every Jeep for 30 years and finally re-installed them on the LJ!

Would be interesting to see if a pair of euro spec Hell 7 inch round headlights with 55/100 watt blub provide better lighting than a the LEDS you currently have???

Thanks, Rich!  It sure has.  Your guidance (and good timing with the sourcing of some very key drivetrain components  8) ) made it possible.  It's definitely been a long and at times frustrating build this winter, but I know this thing inside and out and am ready to stretch its new legs.  Unfortunately, the world has other plans, as of late

No worries, I found a pair for free so I wasn't out too much. I used SEM color coat, with their low luster clear on top. Several of the guys over on the TJ Forum recommended it. I ended up do 3 coats of color and 2 of clear, came out really good.

I'm not happy with the LED lights I have, so I'm going to look into this.

Should be Hella. You may need to check your fuses to run 5/100w bulbs. I think they draw just over 7.5amps or whatever and the fuse on my old BMW was 7.5 so I repalced with a 10. never ahd a problem.
