Put the Scrambler down for a nap at GER this morning. Good thing my rear bumper was against a rock face.

Spent teh last three days installing a double triangulated rear suspension in the old Red Jeep with the help of it's new owner. it was amazing how much grinding had to be done. Next up Frenching in the rear shocks tank and brake lines, thinking we can button up the rear next Saturday/Sunday and then install teh front shocks... color it done

Then move on to the Gladiator project. Parts are on order as of today....

Couple of us rode out to Second Mountain yesterday and had a great day. Unfortunately, much of the trail is hard packed and graded now as the power co has been doing a LOT of work up there. We rode German River road which was really fun and saw some other offshoots I would like to go back and explore when I have more time. We did not go down to Dictum Ridge or any of that area, but overall was a great day.

Not so much what I did as much as what I am going to have to do, I'm just really glad I didn't take it on the Fall Foliage ride. It would have been a disaster.

That one too. I've been chasing electrical gremlins on this thing for months. Most of them have just been annoying but whatever caused it to totally die on me last night is gonna take some work.

That's a bummer buddy, sorry to hear it. When you say totally die, like cut off, no crank, or no electrical at all?

The engine would just shut off like I had turned off the key except everything else would stay on. The engine would restart immediately, in fact I found out if it happened while going down the road I could leave it in gear which would keep the engine spinning and just cycle the key off and on and it would pick back up and keep going. It was very random. Sometimes I could go for a couple of weeks without it happening. It started getting worse which was one reason I decided to skip the fall foliage ride. Glad I did. The night I had to tow it, it just quit running. At most I could get it to sputter for a few seconds but that was it.

I have a crank sensor and cam sensor on order. I don't have a codes but every thing I've heard from mechanic friends and read online says that is the first thing to try. Apparently crank position sensors are a known problem on the 4.0 engines. I also replaced the ASD relay.

At least I have a backup car to get me around while I sort this out.
