Have you checked to see if the cowl drain is backed up? If that is full of leaves, etc the water will back up into the HVAC intake and flood the floorboards. Just a thought if you haven't checked that because it was something I ran into a few years ago and I couldn't figure it out for months.Still dealing with a water leak into the cabin of the Jeep after trying to fill some spots with silicone this past winter thinking that would help. Ended up draining the holes and vacuuming out the remaining water. At this point, considering buying a cover until I can come up with another solution
I have not checked the cowl drain. Where would that be located? It definitely is coming through the windows as I can see a stream as it rains.Have you checked to see if the cowl drain is backed up? It doesn't sound like that is your problem but still worth a check. Between the lower part of the windshield and the hood is the cowl with a vent in the middle. There are about 8 screws in it, some that have to be accessed with the hood up. Once you remove the screws that will give you access to the area under the windshield. Directly in the center is a small rectangular hole that is allows water to drain. It can often get clogged with leaves, pines needles, etc. High pressure water it a coat hanger can clear it out. If it is open, water will run freely and drain behind the engine over the top of the transmission.I have not checked the cowl drain. Where would that be located? I think they are plotting all the time. Mostly, where and what to break and when the most inoportune time.Spent the day not fixing death wobble, which is a win in itself. But I did swap in some LED pod lights up front and finally tucked those janky wires that were flapping around like spaghetti. Jeep didn’t complain, which means either I did it right… or it’s plotting something.
True driving old CJs. Always keeping an eye out for a place to pull over if neededI think they are plotting all the time. Mostly, where and what to break and when the most inoportune time.![]()
Yikes! What did you use to do the smoke test? I think we have a leak on the XJ somewhereBusy weekend… Smoke tested the TJ to find the “small” evap leak. Couple of trips to Napa and Ace to get some hose and elbow connector to repair. Then today swapped out the top on the gladiator to a soft top that I picked up off a neighbor and ordered the ball joint delete repair kit, so that will be the next project.
