What did you do to your Jeep today? - June 2025

PS bring tools and open the diffs and inspect. Each ring gear has the ratio stamped in it.

First, it does look like aftermarket rear shafts based on the logo but can't be sure. I would ask which ARB it has in the rear. I believe they make a 30, a 33 and a 35 spline version. 30 is stock so if it is 33 or 35 then it would be aftermarket.
The rear shafts are Revolutions.

I think Robs offer at $3500 is a reasonable and fair starting point, and his extra $500 in pocket would be a fair buy.

After my typical struggles, got the new half rack on the JT. Going to used for solar panel to keep Bluetti charged up on the road/trail.
My issue was my low garage opening. With the lift and tires it was already close even after adjusting door to open completely flat on its tracks. So after mounting outside, cautiously drifted in with my eagle-eyed 17 y/o watching. 1/8" clearance. I'll take it.

1/8" clearance. I'll take it.

Is your fuel tank full?
Could your tires get taller with impending warmer temps?
Any tools in the Jeep that might be removed for any reason?
Any chance someone lighter than you may drive it?

Can you adjust the stops on the garage door to increase the clearance for any future variance?

I like your anal retentive thinking Cookie, just like me! Stop is maxed out, door edge is actually above the edge of trim. Purposely ran it down to less than 1/8th tank of fuel and all the extra crap out of jeep so its at max height.

Glad I'm not the only over-thinker here;)

I had a similar problem in the JK. the little bastards eat up the #3 injector wiring. I went the harness route to fix. Then I added a Mouse Blocker device to ward off the little guys. I have on in each car and a area one in the garage. So Far no little critters are making a home out of my rigs or garage.
Rob, for the devices under the hood, were they ultrasonic or flashing LED lights?

Joe,

Adjust your garage door by reprogramming the height. You’ve got at least another 1” to 2” you can work with.

Spent the morning on load out test 1 for the "Big Western Adventure". All tools, gear boxes, water carrier, etc checked for fit. Weighed each before loading, right at 270 lbs.
Sensitive gear, fridge and Bluetti will occupy rear seat platform. Feeling confident. Load is tight side to side, cargo net will keep it all in.

Installed aux power to the bed . I now have 2 outlets for power and a volt meeting to monitor the second battery at camp. New Dual band radio installed and remoted the head to save space in the passenger compartment and mounted the ride controller to the dash. Sounds simple but it took most of the day to do.

next up radio programming.

I had been having a rattling noise coming from the TJ that sounded somewhat like a heat shield. Through the process of elimination I determined the sound was coming from near the Banks Turbo setup. I started to look closer and at first I was worried it was bearing noise. After further evaluation I determined it was the waste gate actuator linkage. The linkage had rusted through and broken off where it hooks to the waste gate on the outside of the the hot side of the turbo. It had been rattling against the outside of the turbo.

Assuming I can find the part, this should be a fairly easy fix. Banks no longer makes the kit but I'm assuming the waste gate actuator set up is some sort of off the shelf set up. My first step will be calling them to see if they have one or I can get a part number to find one from another supplier.

Well, what I thought was going to be an easy fix just escalated.

I was able to get the actuator linkage off fairly easily. While I was inspecting the waste gate lever on the turbo I realized part of the linkage was still attached to the stud on the level. When I touched it, the stud broke off the lever. This means I am now going to have to pull the turbo and see if I can rebuild it myself or if I need to take it to a shop for a rebuild. Unfortunately I have no idea how long this will take and may sideline me for summer wheeling.

If you look in the picture you can almost see where the stud is on the left hand side amongst all the rust.
