What did you do to your Jeep today? - April 2025

How do you all wash your jeeps? Is it the old sponge and hose method? Do you take it to a car wash?
Don’t look to me for advice, but I use a power washer to knock all of that mud off. Then a bucket of soapy water and a wool mitt to wash. Then the power washer to rinse it all off again. Then of course grumble afterward when I see spots I missed.

I don’t go to car washes with any vehicles. Hard to find touchless ones around me. And I like to spend the time hand washing my vehicles anyway.

I often hit a brushless wash on the way home from wheeling (the spinning brushes are bad for soft tops, especially the windows) to clear off the majority of the muck, then do the old fashioned hose and washing mitt in the driveway. The hardest part that car washes don’t really do well is getting underneath clean.

Finally got my Fern Ridge Trail badge from AOAA after about 8 months

After staring at the huge box emblazoned with "GOOSE-GEAR" on it in my garage for 2 months, finally took a break from helping my folks setup new apartment and yard sale prep to install the 60% seat delete in the JT.
It'll support fridge and Bluetti on the big westward trip this August.
Awesome manufacturing and fits like a glove.

Installed viper coil mod and new plugs on my xj. Swapped the blower motor resistor in the TJ. (That was a pita). Installed USB mount to plug in my flash drive on the tj so when I want to listen to audio books it's easy

Not too exciting, but I replaced my keyfob battery and took off the freedom panels to enjoy the day. The drive was very enjoyable, though I need to keep a hat on hand. The sun on the commute home with the panels off is brutal.

My lights in my RSE Step Sliders on the passenger side wouldn't work. RSE sent me a new motor and PCB. I spent the afternoon taking the sliders off and replaced the motor and PCB. Those damn sliders with the skid plates are heavy as hell. I had to call my nephew to come help me slide them back into place. I think I'll avoid doing that by myself again unless I have some labor lined up.

I have found with the RSE sliders, use two tall jack stands to help support them during install or removal.

I was due to change the TC fluid which meant I needed to pull the TC skid. While I had it off, I decided to clean up the rough edges, take off the surface rust and repaint it.

It has held up really well since I got it several years ago. Most of the scratches on it were just in the surface and not very deep at all.
