After 50K miles my KM3s have seen better days. There is some decent tread left, but I think I am nearing the time to replace them. The tires I am looking at are Baja Boss MT, STT Pros, or another set of KM3s.

Back in Colorado I bought all my tires from Costco or Discount Tire. I've always had good success with both of them. However the closest Discount Tire is over an hour away. And Costco only carries BFGs and is currently out of 37" KM3s. Costco has taken care of me with these current tires, patching them and balancing them as needed for free.

What tires shops do you guys like to use?

I live in Aldie, so I am looking for places in Chantilly, Ashburn, Fairfax, Leesburg, Manassas, etc.

I have a quote from Bull Run for a set of Baja Boss MTs, but I'd like to do some comparison shopping.

Thanks in advance for any help!

My MT Baja Boss were put on by Bull Run. Highly recommend. Their service is great and pricing very reasonable.

I did my KM3s through Dirt Nerds in Sterling. It was during the "tire shortage". was supposed to get the Baja Boss MTs but no one could get them. they were able to get me the KM3s and i have been happy.

I just sent them a request for a quote. It appears they use the same quoting software as Bull Run. So it was pretty quick and painless.

- Tire rack is an option. Can be shipped to a local installer.
- I have had good results with Discount tire.
- Amazon is another choice but you will need to find an installer

As for tires all three are great tires. I ran STT Pros on the Red Jeep, they balanced well and off road had great grip. Not a low rolling resistance tire, fuel mileage will take a noticeable hit. The 40s were a 30-35K mile tire. They like most aggressive tires they get loud as they wear down.
I have heard good things on the Baja Boss. They are particular to air pressure to hi or low causes vibrations. They like most aggressive tires they get loud as they wear down.
I am running a set of KM3 (39s) the only thing I have to say about them is the wet performance ( Cornering/Braking) is somewhat lacking. They are a low rolling resistance tire to help with fuel mileage on road.

Good luck.

Contact ORI in Winchester. they have several lines of tires in many different sizes, can mount and balance tires up to like 50 inches and have a state of the art alignment machine. 540-665-0123, they will talk over what you are looking for and give you quotes if you would like. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips!

Man I got to tell you I got a bad taste in my mouth with those guys. When I was researching lockers they told me I already had Dana 44’s in my Jeep. I told them I was pretty sure my Jeep (JLU sport s) had a Dana 30-35. They said no…no jeeps have the Dana 35 in the rear anymore . I wasn’t going to argue with them after talking for like 5 minutes and telling them I had the build sheet for my Jeep they continued to tell my I didn’t have a Dana 35. That really turned me off.

Good to know. I mentioned I was a member to Bull Run and there was no current discounts/promotions.

I'll confirm with Dirt Nerds that I am a member after he finishes the quote he is working on.

I thought Bull Run always offered a 5% discount to members?

I’m talking about dirt nerds

I also got a bad taste in my mouth from dirt nerds. I’ve had a little work done with them and every time they didn’t seem knowledgeable about JLs. I feel like I know more about JLs than they do. I don’t want to say more because they were extremely nice and accommodating, which is why I went back. But the last time I went I made the mistake of mentioning the Nova Jeepers discount before getting a quote. I feel like I got shafted on the price for just a few hours of work.

Shops are in a tough spot. Their work force is very transient and with the movement goes a level of experience and a new learning curve begins. Everyone has a great experience and a bad experience with the same shop over time. The real test is when a shop fails is how do they fix the problem.
Everyone has an off day, some of us just happen to have work done at shop X when their tech is having an off day. Yes it sucks and yes it cost time and money. If the shop is good they will find a way to make up for their off day.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Do you know who you talked to?

Sorry I don’t have a name…Older guy…I can’t remember his name. Super super nice guy and when I got an alignment done there when I first got my Jeep he was also the guy who was willing to talk with me and talk me through very generic stuff since I was such a newb. I even called back several times because I had such a great first experience but after he was insistent on me having a Dana 44 in the rear I lost trust because that’s a pretty huge oversight. Made me question the knowledge of the shop.

Man that’s a bummer! I felt like they took care of me for the most part. Frankly this is why I work on my own stuff…I’m too damn skeptical!! I had a few long talks with them and they gave me some quotes on parts…I looked the parts up myself and they didn’t even up charge me on them…same exact price I would have got online. I also sent the quote to my uncle who is a mechanic and he said it looked fair.

I did have to readjust my drag link after I got it back from them because it was riding on the tie rod which was annoying but it is what it is.

I had a buddy who has a bronco and a gladiator and he said they quoted him at like 5k for a spacer lift!!!!! I’m wondering if something was lost in translation on that one because that sounds impossible.
