Tripped over some news on Stellantis, looks like sales are tumbling due to poor management decisions. What does this mean for Jeep, Ram, Dodge? We are seeing the Hemi V8 going away a solid sale performer for many years, the 3.6 motor is heading out as well new hurricane twin turbo straight 6 coming in... and the $110,000.00 Grand Wagoneer..... The French clearly do not understand the US market or consumer.
MOPAR has always been synonymous with HP and performance, sad to see the French taking this down the tubes. Lets see who buys them out next.

It's a matter of time before someone buys them out... I couldn't even speculate who would buy them out.

I go back and forth. $110k for the Grand Wagoneer was always odd to me. Yes, it's a nice ride from what I hear but that price range shops across many manufacturers and offerings that have significantly more history and connotation with luxury branding. X7, Range Rover, GLS, Cayenne, Q series, pretty well optioned Escalade. When you get down to it, in my perspective, it's probably hard for people shopping the luxury market to spend $110k "on a Jeep." That said, the entire market is still BONKERS.

Hemi - good motor, but any educated consumer who knows mechanics beyond displacement has probably been well aware of the lifter issues and has concerns. Though, I find it amazing Chevy/GM still sells so many Burbs/Tahoe's/etc. with the prevalently problematic AFM setup. Friend of mine recently had her Tahoe's second bank replaced at under 30k miles after having the first bank done at 5k. I guess educated consumers are a bit rare these days, that or they figure all options have their own issues and plan for the warranty to cover any issues.

Maybe Renault will take another shot at it (no pun or disrespect to Besse).

Historically Jeep has bounced around. Someone else needs to own this company before Stellantis leaves it with no value at all. Ram was built up to be a contender in recent years as well, but current plans do not look so good for it either.

I agree that the current management has no clue what the American market wants. And that is showing. Please sell CDJR soon.

My thoughts were kind of where I think Majestek was going in that car prices are just crazy. I think they were trying to compete with Escalade, Navigator, and GLS...in which case the >$100k is the current norm (as absurd as that is). The fact that I see a lot of them on the road, tells me that they must not have been that overpriced if folks are buying them....I just dont know who. lol

Amy and I saw a Grand Wagoneer a couple weeks ago with a "Be patient, student driver" magnet on the back.

Have to know your market. Sales for MOPAR products are down significantly over the past couple years. $100K for a production vehicle is just plain stupid. In an area like DC with incomes around $400K to $1M I guess $100K for a vehicle is no issue. For the rest of us on the lower side of if this scale $100K for a rig is just plain stupid.

The engine thing. car guys real car guys know what they are buying and understand the issues that could crop up with any powerplant. Active Fuel management has been around for a minute, dating back to GM in the 80s. Today Active Fuel management, hairdryer size turbos and variable vale timing are the norm. When it work it is great when it doesn't it is $$$$

MOPAR, while the auto industry was trying to figure out how to stretch a gallon of gas and incorporate batteries and electric motors into vehicle, MOPAR was stuffing the 6.4L Hemi is everything that could find. I was really waiting for the 6.4L Mini van, but they came close by stuffing it into a Jeep JL. Great idea? People are buying them right down to the 8 second Demon street drag car. Now the idea is to buy a hot hatch with a 4 cylinder turbo as the replacement?

I guess if you are willing to take out a mortgage to buy a vehicle $100 is ok....

i was liking that MOPAR was continuing with the big power ICE motors. Then they quickly turned their back on it and are going for the small turbo motors. Maybe I am just old and comfortable in my beliefs and experience, but I would rather have displacement and power at low revs than small motors with turbos to force in the power added.

I love small engines with turbos, and big engines without. I love the 2.0T in my wrangler, but I’d take a 392 in a heartbeat. IMO the best is when Jeep offers more than one engine choice in the wrangler. 2.0t, 3.6, 3.0D, 6.4 all have their appeal (price, reliability, economy, power). Offer several, let the consumer buy what fits their needs and their budget.

The I6 Hurricane looks like a pretty wild engine, seems insane that they can pull 510 hp and 500ft-lb of torque out of a 3.0L engine. I guess that is where the 26 psi of boost comes in! Quite the evolution from the 4.0L I-6.

Totally agree with Cookie - options are great and every engine has its place.

Hopefully the aftermarket will continue to deliver options for those enthusiasts that are looking for something specific.

Options are great. When they have them. And did I read that the manual is only available with the Pentastar? And only in the Wrangler? So is there an issue with the manual with the 2.0? Or just trying to phase out the transmission and the motor together?
