NOVA Jeepers, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service North River Ranger District and onX Offroad, will complete a trail restoration project within the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests this spring. Union Springs Road in Harrisonburg VA is a popular off-road trail which has suffered damage due to vehicles straying outside the designated trail. The restoration will include installation of erosion control materials and vehicle barriers, planting of native seedlings, and a trail cleanup ride.
- Installation of boulders along Union Springs Road, to serve as vehicle barriers to prevent off-trail driving in the restoration area
- Surface preparation and installation of rolled erosion control product within the restoration area
- Planting of approximately 60 native trees and shrubs
- Installation of signage along the perimeter of the restoration area to encourage T.R.E.A.D. lightly principals.
- Conduct trash removal and general trail cleanup along Union Springs Road
