Parked it in the garage because the roof leaks and it's pouring outside.  :?

After getting the seals and bearings pressed in last week, thanks to Garner and David, I put my axles back in. This was after tackling a leaky ARB locker. I also got the diff cover and new Rancho D44 glide plate installed. I’ll add gear oil in a couple days to let the RTV set in the cold.

Lost my keys back on Black Friday. Worst part is they are at my house/property somewhere. I went to get a new battery for the mower then did leaves, since then no keys. Police searched the yard. Turned over the garage. I feel like an idiot.

Idk, boysscout term maybe?  Just when you are in an open space your grid search the whole thing. I did not call the cops about my keys. Lol

I was wondering as well. I hoped that you did not all the cops. I guess you might be getting a Tile for your keys for Christmas?  Do you have a metal detector?  Good luck. I went crazy looking for the key to the Willys one day in October. Found them in my duffel bag for my soccer gear. Should not have been there. But oh well.

Phew. Ok. Damn. I had my pitchfork all sharpened and what not. Yeah I'd grab a metal detector from like harbor freight and go to town in the yard. Or call a group of teens and pay em if they find em to clean the garage and leafs.

What did you do with the leaves to dispose of them? That be the first place I'd look if they were in your pocket while you did the leaves.

I got some work done on the Seven, I welded the 02 bung into my header and the twin sticks installed for the t-case. Also removed the newer battery tray, that's already junk, to replace it. I opened up the engine wiring harness for some clean up. Hopefully, I will be squared away for the Dec ride. Then back in for a huge upgrade  8) I need a few more parts for that then it's game on.

Also, we're looking pretty similar with the OMEs

I've got some JKS already, thanks though.  I couldn't get the upper frame side bolts out, and just wanted to get the axle on for now.  Will be adjusting the pinion angle and hopefully installing driveshaft this weekend.  Good luck with the metalcloaks.  Are you putting them in all around?

That’s what Rich sold me 🤣🤣. Also, with my rear lower mounts outboarded I need a little stiffer shock. I’m still going to run my Rancho 5000X shocks in the front. If those are to soft, then I’ll try the OME since I have them.

Are the OMEs that soft? I thought the reason MC recommended them is because their springs are stiff. For example they tell you to absolutely not use off the shelf Fox shocks because paired with their springs it's a rough ride.

I know that I ran both fox and OME springs on the JK. No complaints with the Fox but the OMEs where the perfect.

My understanding is the OMEs are in between the Rancho 5000X and the Bilstein 5100s.  I have the option on the front since I have some Rancho’s in the right length already. I’ll try them both and see. My rig is pretty light so I figure the softer the better. We shall see.

I've run Ranchos, Bilsteins, and OME springs with Metalcloak 3.5" springs.  Out of the three, the OME shocks were the best ride. They are soft, but not to soft, and have great downward travel. The only negative side to them is that the shock body is huge. The Rancho 5000x is my next choice and I'd never run a Bilstein on a TJ. The Bilsteins do work on an LJ, but are way to stiff on a TJ running Metalcloak springs.

BTW, your wallet may be a little lighter, but you're going to end up with a rig that will flex awesome for a SA suspension!   ;)

Yes, I can’t wait to get the new setup out on the trails. I’ve got the front springs on and the front lower arms. I need to get new hardware for the front uppers and install the rear arms. Hope to get it finished up today, but will probably bleed into the week.

I installed a couple U joints on stock front and rear drive-shafts I picked up from Patrick.  While re-installing the front drive-shaft back in the Jeep, I got three of the four bolts in on the transfer case side.  While putting the fourth bolt in, I dropped the 8MM socket and it managed to fall in between the joints.  :twist  Now, I can't get the socket out without removing the three bolts.  Normally, this isn't a big deal, but I have the skid plate installed, which makes it difficult to get to the bolts.  Needless to say, I cussed at it :rf and walked away for the day!

One of those cases where it went in, but won't come out.  I couldn't have done that if I tried....as you said, it's the way my luck runs.  On the positive side, I'm close to having the TJ back to driving status, after removing a majority of the drive-train and suspension mods.

In preparation for getting the Jeep out on the trail, I installed my first exterior mods as soon as the UPS guy showed, a Fishbone Offroad mid-width bumper and a Quadratec winch with synthetic rope.

It sounds like by giving you my parts, I've managed to pass on my luck as well.  Maybe this means my curse is lifted?  ;)

I'm hoping you didn't pass it on to me!   :D

Finished up the install of my new to me MC adjustable control arms and 3.5” springs:

Did you check the brake lines?  From the angle of the last picture your brake lines look short.  Could just be the angle, but those springs have a tremendous amount of downward travel.

Good point, I had not checked that. I had to unbolt them from frame when I pulled the CAs to install the springs. I have a feeling they are fine since the shock was also an inch or so past full extension. I’ll check it out though, thanks Rich!

Did you end up with a little extra lift?

I ended up measuring the front at a little under 3.5” in the front and 4” in the rear. When I go to 35s, I’ll put the 5/8” spacers back on the front.

Dang. You must have HAD to get the oil changed today. Bot sure I would have voluntarily done that today. Heck, I am looking at my CJ in the driveway knowing all of the work I need to do to it and just can’t get motivated. Way too cold.

Its been overdue for a couple weeks and have the day off, so it made sense until I got out there and my coffee was ice coffee in about a minute.

I run synthetic (Rotella T-6) in my TJ and don't put a "lot" of miles each year - maybe 10k.  I only change it every 6-9 months, just to avoid things like this.  Sometime over the next few weeks I will probably change it - or not.....

I'm just noticing that this is what your garage looks like when you don't drive a CJ, YJ, TJ, or XJ!   :lol

Got some work done on the KJ today. Welded in a patch panel on the bottom of the rocker. Not my best work but it will do. Also changed the rear gear oil and took some measurements for the axle swap while I had it on the lift.

Finished taking the TJ back to stock, mostly, and drove it for the first time. I must admit there's something nice about having a clean TJ on 31" tires.  That said, now to get it sold!

With the help of Rob (R3) I began the install of the MegaSquirt 3 EMS System V3.57 engine management system this weekend.

I began by ripping all of the wiring out of the engine bay, kind of wished I had taken better notes. Next I ffound a place for the EMS. Unlike the factory ECM the the MegaSquirt 3 is not water / weather proof so I ending up giving up half of my glove box to have it in a well protected location.

Now begins the harness build along with a steady flow of amazon boxes to fill the gapsss between what I thought I needed and I really need.

Stay tuned with any luck the CJ will be running before Christmas...

Yes I do/did have one of the earlier versions of the Mopar Performance/HESCO conversion kits on the CJ. It is a great system for a stock, or near stock engine based on early 90's, late 80's technology. Even with my engine mods it works great on the street and pretty good off road trail after adding the piggy back tuner. But it is really is not that easy to tune for varying conditions. The system is based on a 1994 Jeep Wrangler ECM which was replaced in late 1995, early 1996 with the next generation ECM technology incorporating an industry standard OBD II design.

Since the introduction of the Mopar Performance in the early 2000's there have been several upgrades and improvements with the most recent being the completely tune-able version 2.0 which appears to be a very affordable conversion kit for anyone interested in installing a multi-port fuel injection on a Chrysler in-line six. If i were smarter, I would have simply upgraded to this unit, but the Nerd in me could not resist the urge to build something using Open Source technology...

I finally had a chance to complete the build of the wiring harness panel last night. Sometime today I will energize the system and begin configuring it for engine combination. With a little luck I will soon have the CJ running once again.

OK that was a very long "yes".

We gonna start a January one of these?

The 315s finally came in and got them mounted. 1/5 tires wanted 46oz of weight (yes the bead was on, yes they tried to match the tire to the wheel). Shop said they had never seen this before, especially with a BFG. So riding around with no spare while they wait for a new tire to come in.
